STR REGULATIONS

Fort Lauderdale operators:
a noise monitor is legally required

Fort Lauderdale's Vacation Rental Ordinance requires every property to have a noise detection device installed and 180 days of data on file, available to the city on request. Minut meets the requirement, out of the box.

What the law says

Fort Lauderdale's Vacation Rental Ordinance introduced mandatory noise monitoring for all registered vacation rentals. Here's what you need to know:

A noise detection device in
every property

Every vacation rental must be equipped with a noise level detection device that alerts both the property owner and guests when preset noise thresholds are exceeded.

180 days of data, ready on request

All data produced by the device must be retained for a minimum of 180 days and made available to the City of Fort Lauderdale upon request.

Non‑compliance is costly

Violations carry fines starting at $250 per uncontested violation, and $325 per contested violation.
