Sensor Swap: Replace your Minut sensor with a fully charged one when it's out of power

The Minut sensor is not only an indoor and outdoor noise alarm, but also a cigarette detection system, a tool enabling you to monitor temperature and humidity, and an excessive occupancy detector. During one of our regular Minut engineering offsites, one of our team members had an intriguing idea: what if you could replace a depleted sensor with a fully charged one seamlessly? This is how our new Sensor Swap feature was born. With it, you can effortlessly replace a depleted Minut sensor with a fully charged one without the hassle of reinstalling the device or losing any data.

Bullet-proof noise and cigarette detection – even when one of your sensors goes offline

At Minut, our mission is to help make the hospitality industry a better place for everyone – but also to save you time and resources! Although the battery life of a Minut sensor can span over 12 months with one full charge, one of your sensors might one day go offline. However, you should never find yourself in a situation where you’re unable to make the most out of your short-term rental security system. This is why we’ve introduced Sensor Swap, the easiest way for you to swiftly face situations like these.

Quick setup, immediate results

Did you know that installing your Minut sensor only takes about 15 minutes? Enabling Sensor Swap is no different. Log into your Minut app or web browser – only an admin can do this – and follow these quick steps. In just a few minutes, and without the need for any technical help, you’ll be ready to go. All you need to do is turn on your new sensor, remove your depleted sensor from its mounting plate and replace it with the new one – and let the Swap operate its magic! Once the Swap has been completed, you’ll see a log event on your Minut app.

Many of our users choose to install multiple sensors in their homes to monitor outdoor and indoor noise, or simply a greater surface area, but these can come in even more handy when one of them goes offline because of low battery.

To make the most out of your noise detector’s battery life and of your short-term rental security system, make sure you regularly check your sensors’ battery levels via the Minut app. That way, you can make sure to swap sensors whenever one of them goes offline and ensure that your property remains protected at all times. And did you know that Sensor Swap could be performed between sensors of different generations? Whether you’ve got Gen 2, Gen 3 sensors, or both, you can perform Sensor Swap effortlessly.
